I want to demo my software on a large screen TV (60" possibly)

My software runs at 1024 x 768 resolution, no smaller. I've tried making a DVD with the avi file from the screen capture of my using the software I want to demonstrate. But I played the DVD I made from the screen capture on a regular CRT 4:3 TV. So part of my software program display is cut off on the TV.

I have plans to rent a 60" TV to display this program on. I don't know what kind of TV (LCD or other) to rent and what specs it would need to either hook up a laptop to it and play the avi file demo of my software or make a DVD like I tried for the regular TV but which cut off part of the image. If I used the same DVD on a LCD TV, what TV resolution would display my DVD properly and sharply? Because apparently 720 x 480 is not enough when played on a regular TV but I wonder if it would work on a TV with a larger resolution than that.

I prefer to make a DVD because I don't have a laptop. I would make the DVD by using the screen-captured AVI file and possibly adding narration and using ArcSoft Showbiz to produce the DVD. But I don't know what specs the TV needs to have to display my software demo properly.

My friend has a smaller LCD about 29". Maybe I could test it on his.

I request additional info I may not know to ask about in order to accomplish this task.
Thanks.

i can answer the question on laptop interface,

you require a laptop with an s-video out connection and a tv with an s-video in connection, and of course an s-video cable

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Video

you could also use a vga port or a dvi port but both these are uncommon in older tvs/laptops

the s-video port will give you dvd quality picture but keep in mind it will only carry video signal and will not provide sound through the tv speakers
